There are several interesting routes starting from the Sunset Trailhead. Sunset trail is a short trail leading to the Marshall Gulch picnic and hiking area without driving through Summerhaven or dealing with the crowds there. It’s a good place to go in the heat of the summer.

Trailhead: Just past Upper Butterfly Trailhead parking lot on the left side of the road. It’s about 22 miles from the zero marker on Mt. Lemmon Highway.
